February 2019 Construction Update: 1900 Half Street

EB5 Capital’s 1900 Half Street (JF24) project, located in Southeast DC’s Buzzard Point, is underway. The projects is a conversion of an office building into luxury apartments featuring ground-floor retail. Early work is still underway to completely clear and repurpose the building’s frame and infrastructure.

“Projects that repurpose a structure rather than build from the ground up are always fascinating to see,” said EB5 Capital’s Director of Asset Management, David Slavit. “Over the course of the construction timeline, our clients are going to see a metamorphosis of the building, changing from a clear and obvious office space into a fresh and new residential one.”

Located across from the home of Major League Soccer’s D.C. United, Audi Field, 1900 Half Street is slated to be one of the first residential buildings on Buzzard Point to open, offering residents easy access to Downtown DC and the District’s nearby sports stadiums including Nationals Park and Capital One Arena.

Take a look at some of what’s happening now on the construction site.

  • Selective demolition of the slabs to the “E-shaped” residential contours are substantially complete, with demolition of the northwest corner of Level 1 for the retail area remaining.
  • Support framing is in place for repairs of slab edges at various levels including the penthouse level.
  • Repair of slab areas with carbon fiber reinforcing is in progress.
  • Installation of structural steel for penthouse slab extensions is ongoing.
