Construction Begins On $100M Highline At Union Market

Mayor Muriel Bowser was on hand Wednesday to mark the groundbreaking of the latest major multifamily project at Union Market.

Level 2 Development, Federal Capital Partners and Clark Enterprises broke ground on The Highline, a 318-unit apartment building with 10k SF of ground-floor retail at 320 Florida Ave. NE. The $100M project is expected to deliver in the first quarter of 2019.

The 12-story building will have a rooftop pool, and the developers plan to build a park next to the building that will give pedestrians easier access between the NoMa and Union Market neighborhoods.

Monument Realty Submits Plans for Chinatown Mixed-Use Project

A three-story Chinatown building that houses Ming’s Restaurant could soon be the site of a nine-story, mixed-use development.

Monument Realty has filed plans with the Board of Zoning Adjustments to build 63k SF of office space above 10k SF of retail at 615 H St NW.

The plans would preserve the existing three-story restaurant building and would add 43 below-grade parking spaces, Curbed reports. Monument has been working on the plans for several years and has no set groundbreaking date, a spokesperson tells Bisnow.

MRP wants more retail and floating docks at Capitol Riverfront project

MRP Realty, developer of Dock 79 near Nationals Park, has made a bunch of amendments to the next phase of its Capitol Riverfront development plan as it heads toward a Jan. 23 hearing with D.C.’s Zoning Commission.

The developer and its partner, Florida Rock Properties Inc., want to build a marina on the Anacostia with one fixed pier and three floating piers as part of the 71 Potomac project, according to filings with the city Tuesday. MRP is seeking flexibility on marina phasing so it can accurately assess the market demand for boat slips.

City to hand over Buzzard Point land to D.C. United, but stadium work will run into ’18 season

This weekend, the District government will hand over the Buzzard Point property that D.C. United needs to build a soccer-specific stadium three blocks from Nationals Park.

The MLS club is slated to play its final match at RFK Stadium next fall and move into the new complex in 2018 — a transition at the heart of the club’s season-ticket marketing campaign.

Based on construction projections, however, United probably will not play its first home game there until June of ’18, three months into the season. Accordingly, the league is prepared to schedule numerous away matches before United is able to christen the new digs.
