Once again, Washington, D.C.-based developer Forest City Washington is making moves to construct another mixed-use development in Navy Yard. The developer plans on redeveloping a surface parking lot at Parcel L, which is bounded by Tingey Street SE on the north, 3rd Street SE on the east, Water Street SE on the south, and 2nd Street SE on the west.

Last week the Zoning Commission received the filings for the project, so now there are some additional details about not only Parcel L’s residential building, but a few other items percolating nearby.
Canopy by Hilton Says Hello to Oregon
Construction is underway on a new 10 story hotel in the Pearl District by ZGF Architects. The hotel will be operated by PM Hospitality Strategies under the Canopy brand, a new addition to the Hilton portfolio of brands. The developer for the project is the Buccini/Pollin Group. The 128’-8” tall building will include 153 guest rooms. No vehicular parking is proposed.
Marriott Marquis in Washington finally lands a celebrity chef
Celebrity chef and restaurateur Mike Isabella will take the remaining restaurant space available in the Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C., opening Spanish restaurant Arroz in early 2017.
The announcement comes nearly a year after we learned Chicago restaurateur Alfredo Sandoval pulled out of a deal to open Mercadito, which would have been his first D.C.-area restaurant, in the convention center hotel at 901 Massachusetts Ave. NW.

555 12th St. NW: Two-level interior tenant buildout for incoming tenant Nordstrom Rack. The discount retailer will take 34,447 square feet, part of the space formerly occupied by Barnes & Noble. Off 5th, the Saks Fifth Avenue discount offshoot, will have a store in the same building.
